This course offers a solid yet practical introduction to the analysis of energy policy, energy systems, and regulatory structures. Participants will learn how to characterize national energy systems, assess policy frameworks, and evaluate different governance approaches for the energy transition.

Key topics include:

  • Energy policy design, legislation, and regulatory models.

  • Country profiles, market structures, and price formation mechanisms.

  • Analysis of policy transfer, market entry, and policy impact.

  • Socio-technical transitions and integrated transformation approaches.

  • A case study on the German energy transition and its development pathways.
