Let’s Negotiate! Simulation of the Climate Change Conference

Thursday and Friday
27./28.10.2016

Th. 17.00-19.00 (G40 – 227)
Fr. 9.00-17.00 (G40 – 412)

Organizers: FKF Master study program (OvGU) and planpolitik GbR (Berlin)

Registration until October 14: josephin.winkler@ovgu.de

We will simulate the international climate negotiations in Paris in a highly simplified set-up. The participants take the roles of heads of state and government as well as further delegation members and those chairing the negotiations. By taking in the interests and positions of the actors they represent, participants develop a better understanding of the complexity of decision processes on the international level. They immerse themselves in the background of the represented countries and then negotiate, forge coalitions and, if possible, find a solution acceptable to all. The participants act in small groups. Each participant receives a role profile, which informs them of the timetable of the game, their role in the decision process as well as a specific position with regard to the negotiation topics.
