Interlinkage of SDGs in the work of the WHO on environment and health“

Lecturer: James Creswick,

“The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015, provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future. At its heart are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are an urgent call for action by all countries – developed and developing – in a global partnership. They recognize that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth – all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests.” (UN, 2022)

As one of the organizations based on the UN Campus in Bonn, UNU-EHS, represented by its Education Unit, offers a series of online knowledge-sharing sessions to the AGEP network students.
In line with its mandate to disseminate knowledge, UNU-EHS takes the initiative to inform youth about the role and perspectives of the UN and its partners in achieving the SDGs. UNU-EHS will engage experts from various agencies at the UN Campus to present their efforts in reaching the SDGs with relevance to the AGEP Network’s member programs. The knowledge-sharing sessions will focus on 4 major categories addressed by the graduate programs of the AGEP Network: environmental, socio-political, health, and engineering.

Target group
The German Association of Postgraduate Programmes with special Relevance to Developing Countries (AGEP) is an umbrella organization comprising 40+ postgraduate study programs oriented to developing and threshold countries as well as countries with economies in transition. These programs are offered by the AGEP members at German universities in widespread fields of natural, engineering, technical, medical and social sciences, economics, and other relevant disciplines.
